a visit to plimoth
e&b are outside with their pa stacking wood before wednesday's storm.
i harvested the last of my veggies from the garden.
the thanksgiving menus are planned with an emphasis on tradition.
it with this that i share these few bits from
my day as chaperone on ella's third grade class trip
to plimoth plantation and the mayflower.
feeling just that much more grateful for the early settlers and wampanoag people
and how their story is part of ours as well.

bringing the blur into focus this season
this blurry snapshot from earlier this evening so perfectly captured my heart.
life has most certainly been a wee bit of a blur these last few weeks.
and i anticipate with a baby girl's 2nd birthday to celebrate along with
three days of hosting family for thanksgiving and birthday celebrations this coming weekend
that there may be some blurry moments then as well.
but i'm going to try hard to not let the blur take hold and instead
find those moments to bring all this goodness into focus.
and after this weekend's time spent just being,
gathering, trimming and heart preparing
we are ready and oh so joy-filled as we welcome this most
wonderful time of the year.
i pray its one of focus and less blur for you as well sweet friends!

shaking the dinner blues
dinner is a real battle for me these days.
the planning.
that it's dark at 4:45 p.m.
the baby girl witching hour.
the complete lack of table manners.
rough.
rough.
oh how i miss easy summer dinners when
hot dogs and fresh corn on the grill were photo worthy.
thanksgiving menu planning is just the thing to embrace the kitchen
and shake these dinner blues.
i'm looking forward to it so.
what are you serving this year - any go-to recipes could share?

happy halloween
oh what fun we had this halloween!
from a spoonful of sugar
to embracing our inner jedi force.
hope all had a happy happy halloween.
xo,
mary poppins
