happy halloween from our little witch and superhero!

no family themed costumes for the defoyds this year, though the kids for sure tried!

ella just didn't want to be wonder woman, 

and bennett didn't want to be the tin man or any of the other wizard of oz characters 

(though sister worked that angle hard!)

 we did come up with some matching pumpkins though!

these beauties even won some ribbons at the town pumpkin carving contest.

and just to make the kids smile...

wes and i are ready to join our little superman and witch 

for trick-or treating fun tonight.

thankful tuesday, 10/30

• holding onto moments with just e&b and realizing that there will so soon be another one
• praying and preparing for the arrival, change and unknown
• safety and comforts during sandy
• praying for all those that got hit so so hard
• jammies, treats, games and snuggles during sandy (and a few bloody bandaids too)
• rachel's beautiful words on being significant - and getting to be a part of it
• tears with friends
• cat & the hat kiddo sillies - "oh yeah, oh yeah"
• a hike to remember maggie's dad

we ended the wedding weekend with a night in nyc 

(2 nights for mommy who had meetings there at the beginning of the week).

while on long island for my brother's wedding, 

we made sure to explore the great farm stands & pumpkin patches along the way.

while there we got to make some tracks

 through the corn maze and around the field on these fun trikes.

we never turn down a chance for some family friendly competition!

it's getting a wee harder to get around these days.

i'm sore, slow and seriously swollen!

kids hear their mama say "i can't" a whole lot.

i can't give you a piggyback today darling...

i can't climb in your awesome fort...

i can't fit you both on my lap for story time...

i can't play on the floor, build that tower or tie your shoes.

so in the  moments like that one up there, 

when i did get down in their world
to sort, organize and create a car & train museum with them,

 it was topped off by lots of celebrations for what we created, and for their mama too.  .

"look mommy - you did it!" 

tanks fillled...theirs and mine.

 i'll take it!
